The 1982 American Bowling Congress record book lists Don Collins for his tremendous performance in the 1979 Van Wie Doubles when he had a thirty-two game total of 7,850 for an amazing average of 245 for the tournament. Don operated an eight lane bowling establishment in Chittenango for several years before transferring to work for Joe Magnarelli at Astro Lanes in East Syracuse. He won the Herald Masters in 1962 and again in 1981, and also won the local Match Game title four times. Collins has won Syracuse City Association tournament titles, the Empire State Singles, the Bowl Inn tournament in Buffalo and was on the sixth place team in the A.B.C. tournament in St. Louis.
