Message From The President Of the SBA and SWBA

My fellow bowlers:

As I embark on my new position as President of the SBA I am both excited at the  possibilities for our bowling community and anxious to do a good job as one of the leaders of your local Association.

As we all know, the sport and business of bowling continues to evolve, not only in Syracuse, but across the country.  We will be paying close attention as the Empire State Bowling Association merges with the New York State Women’s and Youth Associations.  Lessons learned there will help guide us though our own consideration of a similar merger in the next few years.  We will need to know what works, what doesn’t, and how to set, manage and live up to expectations—both our internal board members’ and the Syracuse bowling community’s.

Also, in this upcoming bowling season, Syracuse will once again play host to a national tournament, the USBC Women’s Championships (returning for the first time since 1954!).  We are proud to have thousands of women bowlers from across the nation come to our city and show them what a remarkable bowling community we have here.

We will continue with our second year of our new bowling newspaper, The CNY Striker.  Launched last season, we were successful in terms of meeting all of our publication dates, and our financial revenues, even turning a profit in year one!  We thank all of the advertisers who made this possible, we hope you support them with your business and encourage new advertisers to also take out ads.  On that same note, the Association website (www.syracusebowling.com) was completely revamped last year.  If you haven’t taken a look at it, I encourage you to do so and go there for local Association and tournament information.  It will continue to grow and become even better this season.

In closing, I want to thank all of the volunteers, board members and you, the bowlers, for your support of the sport we’ve enjoyed in the past and in the upcoming season.  Here’s to good scores and even better friendships!

Yours in bowling,

Robert M. Lazzaro

President, Syracuse USBC Bowling Association, Inc.

My Fellow Bowlers !
As we begin another bowling season, I as your President, would like to take this opportunity to focus on what the Syracuse Women’s Bowling Association has to offer our members.

We have a board of directors consisting of 14 women bowlers who are ready and wiling to serve you – our members – in any capacity that you deem necessary. Information is always available though our association office, our website: www.syracusebowling.com or our bi-weekly newspaper, the CNY Striker, available in all bowling centers. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

TOURNAMENTS – we sponsor several of them each year and they are: City Tournament; League Officers Tournament; Senior Tournament; and the Queens Tournament. Our website will give you more information as to dates, times and locations.

We have 2 exiting events that will take place during the 2010-2011 bowling season. The 1st event is the USBC NATIONAL WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT will be held in Syracuse during the months of April, May, June and July 2011. Bowling lanes will be built at the ONCENTER in downtown Syracuse. For those ladies that have never had the opportunity to bowl in this national event, this is your perfect chance to participate in one of the largest women’s sporting events in the world. Information can be obtained from bowling headquarters, 1 800 514-2695 or www.bowl.com.

Our 2nd event is the formation of a transition team from the men’s, women’s and youth organizations at the State level to begin discussing a merger by the 2011-2012 bowling season. We will keep you posted as this momentous task begins.

I look forward to serving as your President for the 2010-2011 bowling season and wish you good luck, good scores and most of all – have fun!!!

To Our Youth Bowlers,

Welcome to a new bowling season. I am looking forward to getting to know as many of you over the course of this year.

We have a number of tournaments lined up for you to participate in. Watch for details on our website, www.syracusebowling.com, face book page; syracuseyouthbowling and in the bowling newspaper, “CNY Striker.”

As youth bowlers, we look forward to any feedback you have and ideas you may have for a tournament you would like to see in the future.  We also look are always looking for volunteers from both adults and youths 14 yrs of age. If you are interested, you can contact me, our association manager or directors anytime.

You the youth bowlers are the future in this sport; it has been a pleasure to watch you grow as a person, in your scores and averages as they increase. I hope that your love for bowling will carry on as you graduate from a youth bowler and join in adult leagues.

In closing, I would like to thank the parents who bring your youths out to participate in leagues and tournaments. With your continued support this sport will keep going strong.

Have a good bowling season with lots of great scores!

Sincerely,
