He was president of the Syracuse Bowling Association on two occasions, in 1936-37 and 1938-39 seasons. He served as President of the New York State Bowling Association in 1940 and served on the Board of Directors of the American Bowling Congress. Gil was one of the leaders in bringing the A.B.C. tournament back to Syracuse in 1958.
