Alfred started bowling in 1916 at the age of sixteen and continued bowling for sixty-five years. He carried a 180 average his first year and got it as high as 204 in later years. During his career he bowled in twenty-one A.B.C. tournaments and for many years bowled in the City League. He was a member of the City League championship team in the 1928-29 season.
