SPENCER CLAUSEN
1975---outstanding performance

In 1908, Spencer rolled a 708 series which was the first 700 ever bowled in the Utica area. In 1909, he rolled a 300 game in Utica. He moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1922, and his Overland team won the Industrial world wide bowling championship. In 1922, he came to Syracuse to bowl in the State League with Bernie Maurer and the City League with Turners. He made several all-star teams selected by the newspaper in those days. In 1924, he set a Turn Hall record with a 299 game. In the New York State Tournament, he placed second with George Reichel in the doubles and in 1930; he placed second to Joe Falcaro in the singles while rolling a 300 game in the process. One of the early supporters of the Syracuse Bowling Association, Spencer served two terms as President. 1932-33 and 1933-34. The S.B.A. grew from six leagues to sixty-eight leagues under his administration as well as hosting a record-breaking State tournament in 1931.
