Al has been one of the truly great friends of bowling. In the 1954-55 season, he served as President of the Syracuse Bowling Association and in 1958, he served as President of the New York State Bowling Association. He has been quick to donate money for worthwhile causes. In 1961, Alberts Jewelers gave away sixteen diamond rings to local bowlers who could string together six strikes in the team event of the Association tournament at the Syracuse Bowling Center.
