He was co-founder of the Smith-Corona Typewriter Company. In 1925, he became the first President of the Syracuse Bowling Association. His corporation conducted the first A.B.C. tournament to be held in Syracuse in 1935 at the Jefferson Street Armory. His enthusiasm for bowling prompted his entering large numbers of teams into the A.B.C. tournament in Syracuse and other cities.
