John served as President of the Syracuse Bowling in the 1944-45 season. At that time bowling lanes were still called alleys and were made of wood and finished with lacquer and shellac. An attorney by profession, John was often called upon to volunteer his time and lend his expertise in matters of the Association John was instrumental in bringing the A.B.C. tournament to Syracuse in 1935, and fondly recalls the strategy and campaigning which made the bid successful. He was also asked upon to help with the bids to bring the 1958 and 1973 A.B.C. tournaments to Syracuse. |
