Joel worked for W.S.Y.R. television as a sports commentator. He was host for the long running and very popular television bowling show “ Syracuse Bowls “ During the popular bowling era of the 1960’s and 1970’s all bowling enthusiasts knew where they were going to be on Sunday mornings at eleven o’clock. That is when the bowling show aired live and all wanted to see who was going to be “King of the Hill “. During the opening of the show, Joel would always say his familiar “stay tuned because the balls will be rolling and the pins will be falling “. He was definitely a big reason for the popularity of the show along with Bill Ryan as they did a tremendous job hosting the show.
