John O. Martino

John O. Martino served as President of the American Bowling Congress in 1947 and President of the Syracuse Bowling Association during the 1961-62 season. While bowling in A.B.C. tournaments, he compiled a 194 average for thirty-one tournaments. John was instrumental in the bringing of the 1935 A.B.C. tournament to Syracuse. The Bowling Writers Association of America elected him as their very first President. In 1929, John won the International All-Events in Sweden. During the City Tournament, John became the first person to ever bowl a 700 series in the tournament. John has many tournament titles to his credit in both Syracuse and New York State. John was elected to the A.B.C. Hall of Fame in 1969; he was elected as a charter member of the New York State Bowling Hall of Fame in 1982, and the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.
