Sharkey was in the bowling game for over fifty years. He was an institution at the Polish American Citizens Club where he started as a pinboy, but soon worked his way up to manager. He was active in the promotion of the juniors, women and men’s leagues. Several of the top local bowlers began their career under his guidance. Known for his gruff manner, it was his straightforward attitude that earned him literally thousands of bowling friends. His entire life was devoted to bowling, where he made his mark in countless ways.
