Andy was a premier bowler in Syracuse during the 1950’s and 60’s. With his brother Marty, they won an unprecedented six consecutive Van Wie Doubles championships, 1951, 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56, and again they won it in 1959. In 1961, he lost his very first match in the double elimination Herald Masters and then went on to win twelve consecutive matches and win the title. In A.B.C. tournament competition, Andy had a third place finish in the singles in 1953 with a score of 703 and in 1956, he was a member of the Genesee Beer team which finished in eighth place in the team event. Andy was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association for twelve years. |
