Don was a good bowler and a strong competitor, but it was his strong support of the game of bowling that really brought him to the forefront. In 1957, he entered the family business, Twin Trees Restaurant, and started to sponsor many bowling teams with his brother Joseph. During the 1977-78 season, they sponsored as many as thirty bowling teams. Don was best recognized for his sponsorship of classic league teams, which always seem to finish near or at the top of their leagues.
