He was truly one of the outstanding bowlers in Syracuse in the 1960's and 70's. Between the years of 1965 through 1970 he had a composite average of 201.3 . During the 1967 - '68 season there were over 20,000 male bowlers in Syracuse, only 26 had an average in any league over 200. Sam was one of only five that averaged over 200 in every league he bowled in.
In 1970 he was a New York state doubles champion with Nick Raphael. In 1971 he was a member of the Syracuse Bowling association team champions, doubles and all events champion . He was again a member of the Syracuse Bowling Association team champions in 1980.
