Paul’s major
achievements in bowling date back to 1929 when he teamed with Frank
Shaughnessy to win the New York State doubles event. He has a lifetime
average of 191 in the A.B.C. tournaments with his 1886 all-events
score in 1958 being the best of all local bowlers. In the City
tournament, Paul has been on the championship team five times and
in 1963, he paired with Don Gates to win the Doubles event with
a score of 1320. In 1942, when the City League was a traveling
league, Paul had high average of 202. For many years, Paul was
the manager of Heid’s Lanes in Liverpool and taught many
bowlers the fundamentals of the game. He bowled his only 300 game
in 1964 and had his high average of 210 in the Automobile League
at the American Legion Lanes.
