“Bud” was a bowling and horse racing writer for the Herald Journal for many years. Even after he retired in 1985, he continued to write a weekly bowling and racing column in the paper. He could be found at most prestigious bowling events for men and women to gain first hand knowledge as to how the tournament was going and to interview the champions. In 1964, “Bud” took over as tournament director of the Herald Masters tournament and helped it grow from an entry total of about four hundred to over a total of eleven hundred entries. From the continued coverage by “Bud” of bowling in our community, it has continued to grow.
