Phil was the long time manager of Solvay Recreation Lanes and a strong supporter of the Solvay Doubles Bowling tournament. He has bowled in more than twenty A.B.C. tournaments and had many all-events scores of over 1800. In 1960, he was the very first runner-up in the Herald Masters tournament. At one time, Phil along with Danny Capucilli set an all-time high qualifying score in the Van Wie Doubles tournament.
