Wilson has been sponsoring teams since 1935, capturing many league titles, five city championships, and in 1958, his team had the best A.B.C. team score of any team in New York State. In 1950, Van started the Van Wie Doubles which still continues to this day and has had thousands of dollars raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Fund through this tournament. Wilson is a past officer and Director of the Syracuse Bowling Association.
